Hello.
My name is Ben Howe. My family used to stay at the Woodbridge campsite, half a mile down the road from the incident location and incorporated in the now established UFO trail, starting at east gate and culminating at the landing site in the forest. I have been on this trail very recently. We used to go on holiday to this campsite and stayed there for three or four consecutive summers from 1983. I now live in Essex again, so I'm not far from the site; its just a short trip up the A12.
At the time, I was not aware of the UFO incident, but being around 10 years of age, had no interest in the subject either. My interest in all this began around 1997 following University, where I got to put down the textbooks and felt somehow compelled to read books on Ufology (and a multitude of what I consider to be related subjects; ancient civilizations etc). Anyway, the forest held a kind of magic for me. Well, I suppose a heavily wooded area such as it was (its much less now), was a huge adventure playground for a young boy. I was also - and still am - an aircraft enthusiast. Much of the magic for me was being able to observe the A10s and the 'jolly green giants', which were based at Woodbridge, fly very low over the campsite and the forest.
Later on, I was an air cadet for over 6 years and had always wanted to be a fast jet pilot. I didn't become one, but enough said; its still a sore point! I have stayed at many an RAF base in the UK and elsewhere in the world. Its with this background, that the much reported association of UFOs and air bases the world over - particularly those which store nuclear weapons, as USAF Woodbridge did - is of no surprise to me whatsoever. Even before you delve into the masses of books on the subject, you only need a modicum of observational prowess to make the link.
As far as my own beliefs are concerned, Woodbridge represents a very fine tip of a colossal iceberg. The question for me is not; did the incident occur, but why. In a wider context, I think the incident is recognition of the existence of non-human intelligences. Commentators such as Tim Good and many many others have told us that there is much evidence to suggest that some of these...intelligences may well be based right here, on planet Earth. Many accounts abound; sub-subterranean facilities, under-sea locations, accounts in the bible and ancient scripts. I would even suggest that there is mileage in making the leap and considering subjects such as freemasonry; what it is and where, ultimately, this knowledge has come from.....
Many people, both avid observers of the subject material and sceptics alike, will always seek the evidence. I believe there's plenty of it there, but for most folk, they won't believe anything until they can reach out and touch it and see it for themselves. Most of us are just rational human beings after all. That is why I'm so excited about attending the Rendlesham UFO conference, because here are people who have done just that and they're willing to tell those who are open-minded enough to hear it.
